Hello interweb! I'm Downhill2001 (also known as Damage Cloud or DJ Wellwater). I'm an electronic musician, composer, and artist, primarily using FL Studio and GIMP.
Downhill2k01 is an electronic project that contrasts simple, airy soft-synth & raw MIDI melodies against complex and jittering electronic percussion, drawing from Drill 'n' Bass, Ambient Jungle, Vaportrap, Footwork/Juke, and Utopian Virtual. My work as Downhill2k01 is metacontextual, examining persistent digital memory and my own place within 21st-century cyber-culture. This website is the logical outcome of that.
Damage Cloud is a cassette-based Dungeon Synth / MidiFolk project, primarily made using General MIDI soundfonts, my Casio keyboard, and a boombox tape recorder I got from my parents. My work is inspired by the desolate plains of North Texas, the extended Zork series, chthonic-Dionysian paganism, German-Texan Catholicism, and growing up gay in the barren South.
I've performed alongside acts such as Goreshit, KFC Murder Chicks, DJ Chaotic Ugly, TechnoHoochies, 6arelyHuman, Proxoxie, Mortwight, Jenn Taiga, and many more.
I've also produced for and collaborated with artists like Cartier God, Yuke, LSDXOXO, Boy2000, I$aacsHeaven, Contra House, Manwolves, and others.
