Downhill2k01 (also known as Damage Cloud and DJ Wellwater) is the electronic music project of North Texas based artist Sam Bagwell.
Downhill2k01 explores the relationship between consumer technology and identity, refocusing the retrofuturism of Jungle and computer music to 21st-century cyberculture. Working primarily in FL Studio, the project combines airy soft-synths and raw MIDI melodies with dense, jittering electronic percussion, drawing from Ambient Jungle, Drill 'n' Bass, Vaportrap, Footwork/Juke, and Utopian Virtual. Beyond music, the project extends into graphic design, handmade physical media (as Harsh Light Records), DJing, and independent web design. Rooted in a DIY approach, every release is independently composed, produced, mixed, and mastered by Downhill2k01, from the music itself to its visual identity and presentation online.
Downhill2k01 has performed alongside artists including Goreshit, KFC Murder Chicks, DJ Chaotic Ugly, TechnoHoochies, and Proxoxie, and has produced for or collaborated with Cartier God, LSDXOXO, Boy2000, Yuke, I$aacsHeaven, ContraHouse, Manwolves, Jeani Q, g0r3c0r3, and others.
His work has been featured on BBC Radio 1, NTS Radio, and Spotify editorial playlists including Fresh Finds Dance and Planet Rave.

Named after a fictional Discordian wetware browser, Pinealweb combines Ambient Jungle breaks and Utopian Virtual, drawing inspiration from chaos magick, internet spirituality, and consumer technology. It is mixed almost entirely in mono, based on the idea that mono audio files take up less bandwidth to share over the internet.

About: Jupiter pairs two versions of a track that have previously only existed as a live exclusive. Jupiter Tool is a stripped-back, heavy Drum & Bass tool designed for layering in mixes, while standing on its own as a more intense counterpart to Downhill2k01's signature lightweight atmospheric jungle.
Jupiter Estelle pairs the same foundation with Estelle (Blister), a dungeon synth composition released under the Damage Cloud alias, adapting a recurring live mashup into an official release.
This release takes visual & aesthetic inspiration from the astrological symbolism of the planet Jupiter, with artwork featuring the seal of the Spirit of Jupiter (Hismael) from Cornelius Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy.
