Downhill2k01 (sometimes known as Damage Cloud and DJ Wellwater) is a multimedia artist interested in how technology influences artistic/personal expression in the information age and the cultural/subcultural impact of that technology. Their music uses a minimal sound palette to showcase the raw sound of the home computer - the preferred folk instrument of the modern day.

Downhill2k01 produces in FL Studio using a blend of genres, with influences ranging from IDM, Vaporwave, Ambient, Jungle, Liquid DnB, Cloud Rap, Electro, Footwork, Utopian Virtual, New-Age Ambient, Dungeon Synth, and more, with a focus on Internet Music. They are interested in how technological limitations have/will influence the art created with that technology. Their work often utilizes precise drum sequencing, MIDI synth/rompler tones, airy pads, catchy melodies, computer sound effects, rare plunderphonic samples, and a minimal yet satisfying sound palette.

Downhill2k01 also creates visual art in GIMP inspired by the early demoscene and web art. All cover art is made in GIMP, often incorporating found clip art.

Downhill2k01 has produced for/with artists such as Cartier God, LSDXOXO, Stekker, Manwolves, I$AAC (Halo Souljah), G0r3c0r3, Yuke, and Toothcutter.

Downhill2k01 is based in DFW, Texas, and is a prominent DJ in the local music scene. He primarily spins club music, DnB, and electro. Downhill2k01's technique is informed by their background in plunderphonics and sample-based production. They often DJ on their DDJ-400 and laptop using Rekordbox software.

While not a part of any collectives, they are friends with other groups in DFW, such as Theystas, Techno Hoochies, Bassline Brigade, EZ-Clap, & Excalibur.
